Have you found a new bible translation you like?
by New light for you ini know, it seems like half of everyone that leaves turns athiest.... but for those of us out there, who figure on still being christian, have you found a translation of the bible that you belive lives "up to par"?
i'm really trying to research, but there's so many, i wondered if you had any input!.

How did your young children cope when you left?
by boyzone ini have an 8 year old son who's in primary school.
he has to pass 3 sisters and their kids most mornings and they shun me, so therefore they shun him too as he's with me.
he has known these people since birth so he's pretty confused by this.

Hello!
I first want to say i LOVED yknot's idea... of pulling those women into the councelors office for causing undue stress to your child! let them be exposed for the bit@ches they are! , now, i know that they're just doing "what they're told" but they're adults, and as you are suffering consequences, SO SHOULD THEY! love it.
My daughter is 8 as well. we are JUST NOW leaving. planning her b-day next month. I have to say, i'm shocked at how indocterinated she is. I feel so bad for her, i told her "mommy and daddy made a mistake. but now there is lots of fun things out there that we can try as a family, and see if we like!". I still see her ask consistently, maybe 2x a week "why aren't we going to the meeting? why was it ok to go to (the boy across the streets) birthday party?" and "thats where the kingdom hall, well, that we used to go to is". I know she's confused, and not being able to see the kids she grew up with ever again... well, that's just .... there's no way to discribe the ignorance, and no way to explain it to her. I'm just trying to fill the void, and make friends for her as fast as I can- within reason. We were at all the meetings, in service a few times a week, consistant, so it's a big break for her, and we didn't ease into it. I couldn't keep going once i found out the REAL truth.
I'll be curious to see the posts to your dilemma, i know there's got to be a bunch of us in that problem... at least we're de-programming them early on, and they might enjoy a normal life after this!!!

of course now we all have a story...
We had this brilliant brother, got all kinds of scholarships for college, of course turned everything down to go to bethel. It was such an ordeal. it was like giving our best to Jehovah. Within a couple years , not sure how long at this point, maybe 2? they got a call that he had SEVERE problems. Came home bi-polar, but NOT in a usual sense. we're talking ... a completely different person, never able to work or really socialize again. just destroyed, still to this day. Supposedly in the time of dealing with this too his father decided he was anointed, which gave him some mental problems he admitted just the stress of being "called on" and how it would be viewed in the hall after all these years of not being anointed.
Now, would all that have happened without bethel? maybe. But if someone had a pre-disposition to something, and then got thrown in this incredibly ridgid atmosphere, what could happen? i dont know personally, but it's worth a thought.

update...husband made appt. with the elders, what do you think of this?....
by New light for you inok... so my husband felt bad that the elders wanted to meet with us and he wasn't responding... so he set it up for saturday at 2 even though everyone said dont meet with them.
oh ya, and everyone said not to meet with them at your house, but again, he didn't want to rock the boat.
it's funny, though he was the first one to leave, he's still afraid and doesn't want to "raise any red flags" he's willing to just say "we're discouraged, can you just leave us alone fora while" feel free to yell at him (robert7).. here's the thing.

Thank you so much for the great suggestions. Wonderful ones, really. I"m gonna jot those down. the only things i can never use is that I LOVE my congregation.. meaning the people. I love them, alot. and that's what's the hardest thing right now. So i cant use the "so-and-so Sr. stumbled me" of course, except my best friend who already has DFed me in her heart, and my pioneer friend who tried to get me to say i dont wanna be a witness.... but until all of this , i've NEVER had a problem with and elder, and never with another witness. I guess i was just lucky (FORTUNATE!!!)

Are JW's allowed to go to Alcoholic's Anonomous?
by digderidoo ini went to an aa meeting tonight for the first time in a few weeks.
after about 6 weeks of attempting to control my drinking in a social way, i feel that it best to go the abstinence route as i wasn't really enjoying it.. anyway i got to thinking afterwards whether jw's are allowed to go to them?
i have heard how some elders disaprove of them because it's classed as a spriitual program.

I think i equated his "love" with the "love" of the congreagation. When everything is going well, you feel like you're doing your best, what a great feeling. there is some feeling of love, happiness, jsut for a moment. then someone comes along and says "well if you can do this much, why aren't you doing XYZ??" and makes the feeling go to sh&t.
